Indiana’s new alternate diploma for students with significant cognitive disabilities has been approved by the State Board of Education and may be awarded to eligible students graduating in spring 2023. A student is eligible to earn the alternate diploma if:

  1. The student has been identified as a student with a significant cognitive disability by their Case Conference Committee (CCC);
  2. The student’s CCC has determined the alternate diploma is appropriate, as indicated in the student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP); and
  3. The student took the I AM alternate assessment.
