IDOE’s Office of Special Education received clarification from the state Medicaid agency confirming that the following policy statement is no longer applicable to schools’ claims for Medicaid-covered ABA services required per an eligible student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP). Please disregard the following outdated ABA coverage policy statement: “Medicaid will only reimburse for one-on-one intervention. Reimbursement is not available for group instruction.” This ABA coverage limitation is no longer in effect and has been removed from Chapter 4 of the Medicaid Billing Tool Kit.
